A Road Trip To The Alps

This past week I was in Montpellier, France for work. Montpellier is a lovely town just off of the Mediterranean Sea. I spent most of the week working hard during the day, and eating at the most amazing little French restaurants at night. Montpellier is truly a lovely city! On the weekend, I had the most amazing opportunity to go skiing in the Alps... this is an excerpt of my story.

Let me paint the picture... after a long week of work, two of us rented a car to go skiing for the weekend. When we realized that there were two others interested in skiing as well, we were delighted to share the vehicle and all drive up to the moutain together. Only one small glitch, there were four of us -- myself and 3 men all over 6'4" -- and the car was a Puegot 205!!! Tiny, tiny, tiny! You should have seen the lot of us packed into this little box, along with skiis and luggage (there is absolutely no boot to this car!) getting ready to head out from work on Friday. Our other co-workers were absolutely cracking up at the sight and even taking picturs at the absurdity of it. At the beginning of the trip, we were barely acquaintences. None of us had spent any significant time together outside of work, but we left Montpellier in high spirits - delighted at the thought of a ski weekend.

First of all, being acquaintences in such a small space only lasted about the first half an hour, before we knew it, we were laughing, conversing, singing, eating, and generally amused with how simple life can be on a road trip. Eat, sleep, drive... and sing Maroon 5! In less than two days, the four of us had forged a friendship so deep that after arriving back in Montpellier, we unpacked our bags, took showers, and got back in the car for one last spin around town, and another rendition of 'This Love Has Taken It's Toll On Me... '

Over the course of the weekend, I had the pleasure of spending the day trapsing around old town Lyon - and spend a full day skiing at Chamrousse - a great resort tucked about in the heart of the Alps. The mountains were take-your-breath-away beautiful. The weekend was picture perfect. There are no words to describe the experience - but instead a feeling of which I am hoping these pictures will shed some light...
