Places I Never Thought I Would See
Hi all,
August has been a month of travel. From Prague (Czech Republic) to Bratislava (Slovakia), to Vienna (Austria), I have been to three eastern european countries. They are mild in comparison to how I picture them, but lovely and slightly rough around the edges as well (with the exception of Vienna).
Somehow, I never thought I would make it to the former Czechoslovakia - I just didn't. And now I have been, I have seen, I have tasted, I have shopped, laughed, enjoyed, and thoroughly scowered the streets of these cities hoping to understand the culture better.
In Prague: I spent time running on the river, walked the castle grounds, and admired the city with my friend Mercedes. It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen (I am sure you will agree when you see the photos)
In Bratislava: There was an annual king's coronation. I saw midevil costumes, riders on horse, soldiers dressed in midevil battle gear, ate local cuisine (my stomach is still aching), and although there were not nearly as many things to see, I enjoyed myself equally as much. It was a quaint place. little town that I would definitley like to see again.
In Vienna: I was hoping to catch an opera, but instead had a wonderful dinner, breakfast of apple strudel, and cruised around looking up at this great, vast concrete empire. I was an impressive city - the photos say everything.
Enjoy!
Suzy
