The Battle Rages On...
All,
I wanted to thank those of you who have encouraged me throughout the marathon training these past few months. It has been truly inspiring to receive your individual feedback - and to see such overwhelming support (both mentally and financially) - to helping Julie fight her battle against myeloma.
Unfortunately, I am also writing you with a bit of bad news. While on holidays in Portugal over the Easter break, I fell and injured my spinal column. I was hoping to spend a few days recovering, and be able to write you with marathon training war stories... blisters, muscle aches, ice packs and the like ... instead, I am writing to let you all know I am no longer able to run the marathon. I've torn a critical set of connective tissue which means no physical exercise for the next few months.
As you can imagine - slowing down is hard for me. The frustration I feel at not being able to complete the marathon is immense. Excruciating is how I would best describe stopping cold - after 300+ miles of training, and over £1800 raised. That being said, what I am experiencing is only a tiny fraction of what Julie, and others who battle myeloma go through every day - it's an extremely painful form of cancer.
Although, the marathon is out of the question, you'll be happy to know the money each of you has contributed to Myeloma research will be donated in a few weeks time. The goal of finding a cure battles on...
Thanks again - for all of your support.
Suzy
PS - If you still feel like making a donation, please do not hesitate to do so. I plan on keeping the page open until the end of May.
